a spring walk (finally!)

It’s finally happened. The snow has melted, the flowers have opened, and the earth is alive with the warmth & joy of springtime once again. This is the moment that we’ve been waiting for through the long, cold winter. I kept Roman home from school yesterday so that we could enjoy the glory of the April sunshine. We walked around our favorite neighborhood spots and spent an hour at the park, running & jumping in the warm, spring breeze.

The past few weeks have been amazing for me. I’ve started taking yoga classes again after a five-year hiatus. I knew that it would be transformational, but I wasn’t prepared for just how much so it would be. During my first few classes, there were moments when I would start to cry. It was like all of the trauma that has been hidden inside of my muscles these last few years was suddenly loosened and released. It sounds dramatic but that’s how it felt, slightly painful but mostly beautiful. The pure heart and soul work that emerges as a result of body work. I’ve been to five classes since I started earlier this month and the progress that I make with each class is so humbling and empowering. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do this and excited to watch myself unfold further into my practice.

I also just completed my first month of working with daily, weekly, and monthly goals as I wrote about in this post. I’ve really done a fantastic job of accomplishing the goals that I had set for myself this last month. I had nine goals for the month and I nailed 7 of them: drink 2 liters of water every day / walk 5 miles every week / practice positive self-talk / use reusable shopping bags / take probiotics every day / go to yoga on Mondays & Wednesdays / do not be overwhelmed, everything happens when it’s meant to. I made some progress toward these two other goals: eat at home 6 days a week / meal plan 6 days a week — but not as much as I’d hoped. So those will go back on the list for the coming month and I will craft a better plan to accomplish them.

I am feeling so full of hope & gratitude with where I am in my life at this moment. I am so excited for the magic of the season to come. Here are a few more snaps from yesterday’s wanderings.
