Baby’s Been…

Roman James is 2.5 months old. The past couple of months have been incredible. I want to remember what he’s doing at each stage of his growth. This series “Baby’s Been” is all about what my baby has been up to lately.

  • We had his two-month visit last week and he has grown so much. He now weighs 13 lb. 11 oz. and is 24 inches tall. He went from being in the 50th percentile when he was born all the way up to the 90th percentile now. He has outgrown all of his size newborn clothes and even a few of his size 3-month clothes.
  • Roman still loves to be at the breast. It’s still his very favourite thing and the only thing that can make him stop crying/fall asleep. His feeding times have gotten much shorter (from about 20 minutes on each side to about 5 minutes on each side). He still eats every two hours during the day, but he’s started using mama as a pacifier and wants to nurse every 60-90 minutes at night. (A whole post on this topic coming soon.)
  • Roman is really developing a personality now. He smiles, frowns, and goo-goo-ga-ga’s. He makes new sounds and develops new expressions every day.
  • He loves when mama reads books to him and shows him the pictures. He will also watch the television for a little while to watch the movement and the colours. He especially enjoyed, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories by Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss’s, The Lorax.
  • Physically, he is moving (actually wiggling) right along. No matter where we prop him up or lay him down, it’s only a matter of time until he squirms to someplace else. His neck is strong and so is his grip! His legs are ever-kicking, too. He’s a little powerhouse.
  • Roman’s eyes are still bright blue and his hair is dirty blonde. A couple of people say that they spot some ginger in his hair, but I think that it’s just a tint from his cradle cap. We shall see!
  • He had his first shots at his two-month visit last week. We decided to go ahead with the recommended vaccines, but we are spreading them out — no more than two per visit. He was a champ during his shots, he screamed when they stuck him but then mama picked him up and he fell right asleep. (I’m pretty sure it hurt me more than it hurt him. 🙁 )
  • Our little boy gets bigger and sweeter every day. He is a little miracle for sure. Sometimes I look at him and my eyes just fill with the happiest tears. I am completely and utterly in love, love, love!
