Backyard Fun & Summer Memories

At the beginning of the summer, we celebrated one year spent in our new home. It was so exciting to celebrate the fact that we have been here in this space that we love so much for a full year. Last year we were really just getting settled in as we moved through the summer, but this year I was determined to make our backyard a place where we would spend a lot of fun, quality time. And as soon as the warm weather came around, we did just that. From BBQ’s, to campfires, to blowing bubbles, to running through the sprinkler. We’ve been back there doing it all! I absolutely love making beautiful summer memories in our yard with my babies.

Unfortunately, because we had such a rainy spring, we had a huge problem with mosquitoes this year. The biting mosquitoes were so bad that we actually had to end our outdoor activities and move inside several times. It was such a bummer. It was right around that time, when the problem was at its worst, that we were invited to try out TruGreen’s Mosquito Defense Service. It honestly felt like an answered prayer and I was so excited to get some relief around here so that we could enjoy our precious lawn & yard.

Our experience with TruGreen has been so positive and we really have gotten the relief that I was hoping for. After the treatment, it was like night & day. It worked so quickly & effectively. It has been such a joy to have our yard free of pests once again so that we can spend more time outdoors. If you have trouble with mosquitoes, or other questions about caring for your lawn, I encourage you to consult with a TruGreen agronomist/lawn care expert.

TruGreen’s Mosquito Defense service targets mosquitoes and ticks where they live, eradicating them from your yard in 24 hours so that families can live life outside. TruGreen’s Mosquito Defense service is a three-step process.

  • Inspect: Check your property for areas where mosquitoes are, or could be, living.
  • Treat: Use an innovative formula and targeted applications technique that works within 24 hours.
  • Maintain: Receive a monthly treatment to help protect against biting mosquitoes throughout the season.

For us, the process of working with TruGreen was simple. First we had a consultation with an expert to determine the best course of treatment for our yard. After that a technician came to our house and implemented the Mosquito Defense Treatment. She was knowledgeable and in addition to the treatment, she gave us lots of great tips on how we can keep the yard pest-free going forward. We learned so much about mosquito defense including the fact that 85 percent of Americans say that mosquitoes limit their outdoor activities during the months they’re most active.

I learned that we can all better protect our families from mosquitoes by:

  • Removing or regularly replacing standing water that accumulates in things like buckets and birdbaths where mosquitoes lay their eggs.
  • Making sure your yard is free from piles of twigs, branches and leaves which provide harborage for mosquitoes.
  • Keeping your lawn well mowed and other vegetation trimmed to eliminate cool spots where mosquitoes prefer to hang out.
  • Taking the necessary precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and considering hiring a professional lawn care company to kill mosquitoes where they rest – in trees, shrubs, mulched areas and all types of ground cover.
