30-day-blogging-challenge

So, I totally mixed up yesterday & today’s challenge posts! Oops! Sorry about that. So here goes Day 11 on Day 12. 😉

Food, glorious food! I would definitely consider myself a foodie. I love food. It is safe to say that I am obsessed with food. I think about it all the time. I pretty much love all types of food, in fact, I’ve never found a variety of food that I didn’t like. There are a couple of things that I could do without (namely anything that has sauerkraut in it; liverwurst [ugh]; and anything that is too spicy). But barring those few things, I like it all. I’ve traveled the world a little bit so I’ve gotten to sample food from many different cultures and I’ve really found that one is better than the next! I was a vegetarian from the time that I was eleven to the time that I was twenty-one. I’m still not a big meat person. I am pretty much a pescatarian although I do eat meat a few times a month and if I am at someone’s house I usually oblige because I don’t want to be difficult. I also can’t deny that a good cheeseburger with bacon or a melt-in-your-mouth steak are a couple of life’s ultimate treasures. Still, I’ve got a lot of problems with meat — especially with factory farming — and I’ve been moving closer and closer toward vegetarianism once again. Time will tell. Oh, but I could never give up fish. I just couldn’t.

Without further ado here are my faves.

1. Potatoes. Really, I love potatoes, all kinds. Growing up my father always used to say that one day my sister & I would turn into potatoes. We love all kinds — mashed, fries, chips, hash browns, skins — all of them. I’ve never met a potato that I didn’t like.

2. Sushi. If I had to choose one food to eat every day for the rest of my life (terrifying thought!) I would choose sushi. I love it so much & I never get sick of it. All of the coworkers that I’ve ever had had to talk me out of sushi at least a few times a week. I like all kinds but ever since I watched The Cove I’ve tried to seriously limit my tuna intake. But I don’t mind because salmon is really my thing. My favourite rolls are salmon avocado and spicy salmon. There was also this roll at this one place called spicy rock shrimp that was out of this world. I haven’t been able to find that one anywhere else though.

3. Potato pancakes. Okay, I know that I already mentioned potatoes above but I have to give potato pancakes a spot all their own. Potato pancakes, also called latkes, hold a special place in my heart. My grandmother and I used to make them every year during lent. It was our special tradition. Our recipe will always be my favourite but I’ve found some amazing ones at other places, too. There is a Polish deli near my house that has particularly outstanding ones.

4. Shrimp, Crab, and Lobster. I love them all. I am a big seafood person in general, but shrimp, crab, and lobster are just out of this world good. I’ve never had a crab or lobster that I didn’t love. As for shrimp, the best that I’ve come across are the coconut shrimp from The Outback Steakhouse. They are big, juicy, and cooked to perfection every time. Speaking of The Outback, I love their Aussie cheese fries, too. Is anybody surprised?

5. Brownies. I am definitely more of a salty-snack-person but there is nothing like a good brownie. Fresh, moist, warm from the oven. Yea, heaven.

6. Mom’s artichoke dip. My mom makes the most outstanding artichoke dip. It’s salty & creamy & cheesy & just downright sinful. But it’s so good.

7. Hot fudge sundaes. I was never much of an ice cream person at all! In fact, I kind of avoided ice cream because I always had super-sensitive teeth. Then, something happened during my pregnancy and I started to crave hot fudge sundaes all.the.time! Sadly, the cravings never really went away. UGH. Of course, I’ve gotten them in check. But once in awhile, I throw caution to the wind. Hot fudge sundaes. Yes, please!

8. Salad. I’ve always loved a good salad. I prefer dark, leafy greens. Give me a good salad with a hard-boiled egg, some nuts, chick peas and a good dressing — I am a happy girl.

9. Chickpeas (garbanzo beans). I love them. I can eat them plain, in hummus, in a chickpea patty, a chickpea “meatless”ball, you name it. I love ’em.

10. Mozzarella. Cheese is another one of my weaknesses, but mozzarella definitely takes the cake. I could eat fresh mozzarella by the pound — ciliegine, parmigiana, string cheese — give me all the mozz!

Honorable mention: Eggplant. Eggplant has always been at the top of my list. There is an Italian place nearby that makes a sandwich with grilled eggplant, red peppers, and fresh mozzarella. It’s out of this world. And a good eggplant parmigiana is pretty much the best thing ever.

Okay. I think that I’ve thoroughly proven how food-obsessed I really am. It’s also pretty obvious why I still haven’t lost this baby weight and that it’s not going anywhere until I get back into the gym regularly! 🙂

This just made me so hungry!

I couldn’t stand ice cream or chocolate until I got pregnant, and ever since I’ve been obsessed!

Here is an easy instructional about how to “link an image to a website.” http://www.mainspringcms.net/pages/make_a_picture_into_a_link/ There are lots of tutorials on Google. I use WordPress for my blog, but you use Blogger, so it’s a little bit different. Good luck! 🙂
