Day 22: Your Worst Habits

30-day-blogging-challenge

+ Overeating/eating poorly
+ Passing judgment
+ Doubting myself
+ Not exercising
+ Cursing
+ Not reading often enough
+ Not brushing, flossing & rinsing every day/night
+ I have a hard time saying no

Like most people, I could spend a lot of time beating myself up. We are all our own worst critics — so they say. I’d much prefer to talk about my strengths (that’s that optimist inside of me again) but it’s important to stare our shortcomings in the face once in awhile, too. It’s important to look in the mirror and acknowledge where we fall short so that we can make ourselves better. Of course there is no such thing as perfection, but there’s always a hell of a lot of room for improvement.

Over eating & not exercising are my bad habits, too. But I say it’s acceptable for us, new mothers.

My worst habits are probably, judging others too soon especially other parents, thinking that certain athletic skills I have for bowling, softball, hockey, football, etc is better than others, etc. Making excuses for not going to church, or not doing something I should is a pretty bad habit. Spending money I don’t have can be a problem too. Lastly, thinking arrogantly that I have the hottest wife makes me a better man than others is likely the worst thing I do.

You totally stole my bad habits. All of them. And now I’m totally passing judgment on you while cursing. I’m so the worst flosser ever…probably one of my husband’s biggest pet peeves about me since he flosses after every time he eats, practically. This explains why I almost have as many cavities as I have fingers. I’m stoked over my $1k dentist visit that I have been putting off for over a year now to take care of al of them. I can also add to our impressive list: quitting things (books, goals, projects) halfway through, not using my time wisely and procrastinating (same thing?). How am I married??

I think cursing is one of my BEST habits! I LOVE swearing. I’m trash, mmkay? 😀 As a result, my five year old has an excellent handle on all the curse words, but knows when not to use them. When I was teaching I trained myself out of swearing and after I had Odin I remember realizing that it was “time to bring back the sailor mouth” and boy, did I ever. Swearing is like…an easy way to express my sense of autonomy and freedom and I am a proud curser! (I realize this might seem odd 🙂

Wow, you’ve kinda changed my perspective on this! I never really thought of swearing as a way to express autonomy and freedom… but yea. I get that. It really doesn’t seem odd to me at all. I am, however, wondering how you keep Odin from cursing in the wrong settings.
