Day 24: What Attracts You (In Love)

30-day-blogging-challenge

This will be my lamest challenge post yet because I’ve had a splitting headache all day. 🙁 Still, I’m going to try because the challenge is almost over! What attracts me to a partner…

+ Physically, my husband is everything that I am attracted to. It sounds ridiculous and corny (I know!) but if I had to draw up the man of my dreams it would be him. (Side story: M. and I went to high school together. He had no idea who I was but I knew who he was and had such a crush on him! Of course I didn’t know him so I didn’t like him, but I could stare at him all day with little hearts coming out of my eyes like a cartoon character.) I mean, just look at him.

+ Of course looks aren’t everything — although I totally admit that they are a big thing — at least for me. As far as personality goes, I’ve always been attracted to a very particular type of guy. He has to be masculine. I’m sorry but metro-sexual guys just don’t do it for me. I mean, I can totally appreciate their beauty, but I was raised in a blue collar family and I’m attracted to manly guys. If a guy spends more time getting ready than I do, that’s the biggest turnoff of all. I like a man that is laid back and relaxed. I tend to be a little “high strung” and I love to have a partner that balances me out.

+ I am attracted to kindness and respect. A man that shows kindness to strangers wins big points with me. If he is rude to the waiter, I am running in the other direction! He also has to respect his mother. Call me old-fashioned, but that’s a big one for me.

+ And the last thing that I always looked for in a partner was a man who would make a good father. I always knew that I wanted a family one day and so “daddy-material” was always at the top of my list.

Not sure exactly how old I was at the time, but from the day I realized that girls didn’t have cooties (lol), there was just something about blondes. When Dena talks about “hearts out of eyes like in the cartoons”, that also describes how I looked at blondes. As I grew older, my perfect woman physically was a blonde Victoria Secret runway model. Just watch the show on CBS when it airs next month, that look has alway been “Scott’s type”. And I’ll even say that for almost a decade, all I heard from friends and family was “your standards are far too high”. Unlike Dena, my spouse to be did not go to my school, but she did in the next town over. That probably worked out well for me because during my high school years, I was the type of guy that wouldn’t have even existed in her world. Dena is right “looks aren’t everything, but I admit it weighed a lot for me”, and therefore it was love at first sight for me. My own personal blonde Victoria Secret Angel. LOL. Of course, I’m sure if she were stuck up or rude or arrogant or too into herself, those traits would have made her less appealing to me. However, the more I got to know, the more I liked. Between her personality, her aura, the way she is with kids, and just how she even makes me a better person, she was the whole package as far as I’m concerned. Being married to her, I feel like I won the lottery.

Yes – your man is very handsome! I also like a real “manly man” (as cheeze ball and politically incorrect as that may be). I live amidst industry and I’m used to seeing lot of big, burly men working hard in their Stanfields and overalls. The hairier and huger Tim gets, the more I love him! Lol <3
