Our Japanese Maple & Some Great News!

Autumn in the northeast is truly beautiful. The trees light up in a blaze of oranges, reds & yellows. It’s such a sight to see. It is especially gorgeous up here on our little mountain. We have a Japanese maple in our backyard that takes my breath away every year. It gets progressively brighter & redder. And then for a brief window of about two days — it is absolutely on fire. I’ve been meaning to take photographs of it forever & this year I finally remembered to. I did it just in time, too, because the next morning all of the leaves had browned & fallen.

Things have been so wonderful lately. I’ve been extremely busy with photography stuff, blogging, baby & housework, but it’s been a good busy if you know what I mean. I also have enormous news for anyone that has been following along with our ongoing sleep issues… Well… on the night of his six-month birthday ROMAN JAMES SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! It was the most extraordinary thing to happen in ages. Without a mid-night feeding I woke up with extremely sore, swollen & leaky (TMI!) boobs — but it was one million percent worth it! And better yet, he’s been sleeping through the night ever since then. He wakes up occasionally & I have to give him his pacifier or he soothes himself back to sleep. But still, without those middle-of-the-night-marathon feeding sessions, it’s like Christmas came early around here & I’m jumping for joy.

Thank you, darling. I use a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens.

Rob’s parents have a japanese maple like that in their front yard, it’s so lovely! We planted two of its clippings when we moved into our house. It’s still growing, but hopefully one day it’ll be just as grand.

And congrats on Roman sleeping! I’m really really happy for you! It’s SUCH a great feeling when just a paci can sooth them at night.

Yay for sleep! Congratulations! My little guy has been fairly consistently doing it since about 4 months, but there are still nights where he won’t be soothed and I have to feed him. Those night are ROUGH now that I am used to sleeping all night. haha
