When you have a second child, there is a natural disparity in the amount of alone time that you are able to spend with each of your children. I remember having so much one-on-one bonding time with Roman, from the time he was born all the way through his first couple of years until Marina came along. When she was born I began the newborn/toddler juggle. On top of that, she was colic for her entire first year, so that early sweet, quiet, peaceful bonding time that I had with Roman, I never got with Marina.

I don’t necessarily have guilt about any of it. I’ve come to a place in my motherhood journey where my “Mom Guilt” is minimal. I do my very best and that is enough for me across the board, both in motherhood and in life. It is perhaps one of the reasons why I am, at this moment in my life, as happy as I’ve ever been. Still, I know how special one-on-one time is for each of my children. I also know that they will only be this little for a short time and so I work hard to make the most of these precious, fleeting years.

Now that Roman is in preschool, it’s given me a few hours each weekday to spend time alone with Marina. We’ve made so many beautiful memories during these mama/daughter outings and activities. We take long walks, go to the park, and have shopping dates. It’s so incredible to witness her in her solitary glory, away from the influence of her always doting brother. As sweet (and wild) as they are together, I love getting to know her on her own, too. It’s one of the thousands of blessings that I cherish in my role as a mother.

One of our favorite girl dates is a trip to Target after we drop Roman off at school. Honestly, I could live in Target. It’s like an amusement park for moms if you think about it. Starbucks, gorgeous clothing, home goods, and even groceries now, too. It simply doesn’t get much more convenient than that. We were recently invited to try out the new Tidy Cats® LightWeight Free & Clean unscented litter. Of course, we picked it up on a recent jaunt through our favorite store.

If you follow my blog or Instagram, then you know that our family’s life is centered around a healthy, green lifestyle whenever possible. So switching our kitty litter over to free & clean made perfect sense for us. There are lots of reasons why a litter with no dyes and fragrances is an important step in creating a healthy home for your family. My top three reasons for switching are:

  1. Tidy Cats® LightWeight Free & Clean is free of fragrances and dyes. It’s a weight off my shoulders knowing that our cat isn’t living with those things on her paws and tracking them through the house.
  2. It uses unscented odor-absorbing activated charcoal and prevents that yucky ammonia odor for 2 weeks. Score!
  3. Finally, LightWeight Free & Clean creates tight clumps for easy scooping and is 99.9% dust free. The less mess the better, because we have enough of those around the house.

If you have a cat, you can try new Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented litter at Target, too. There is a promotion running from April 22nd through the 28th where you can purchase one Tidy Cats product and get one 50% off.

As usual our Target trip leads to a sleepy little girl. We make it home just in time to pick up Roman from school and then head home for some kitty cat snuggles, and of course puppy snuggles too.

I love Target. I’m not allowed to go there anymore. I always buy too many random things we don’t need. So now hubby goes. That’s okay, those kitty litter boxes are HEAVY.
