Another week come & gone! Time flies when you’re having fun, eh? I’ve had a great week & for no particular reason. I am excited to report that a good (graphic designer) friend of mine has offered to help me create a new logo for the site! I am stoked. Once I have the logo, I will put the finishing touches on the new site design and will be headed over to Evolution’s new domain. It is an exciting & scary thought. I’ve put a lot of heart into this blog so far. I hope & believe that the changes are going to help take things to the next level.

That said, let’s get on to this week’s Carousel. Wow, there was a ton of great stuff floating around the Web this week. Here are my favorites. Enjoy!

1. 5 Ways of Using Limits to Get More Enjoyment Out of Your Life Today: This is certainly an area that I am working on & need to continue working on, setting limits. Here are some great tips to get you into better habits.

2. How to Live a Fulfilled, Joyful, Creative Life: Now how is that for an awesome title? Let me know if you think the post lives up to its name. I took a lot away from it.

3. 5 Uncluttering Things You Can Do in Your Office Right Now: My desk is a mess about 75% of the time; but after reading (and implementing these 5 really simple steps) it’s looking rather lovely.

4. The Most Important Success Tip: Stop Lying Down with Dogs, Already: Oh yes, this one is a must-read. Have you ever questioned why you surround yourself with the people you surround yourself with? Have you ever wanted to improve the situation some? This post will tell you how to do it and how to do it without being a jerk.

5. How to Solve 90% of Life’s Problems: Oh, I love, love, love this article! Absolutely simple, but absolutely true.

6. The Ultimate How to Get Lean Guide: This is a great article from Zen Habits. It is so different than any of the fitness articles I’ve previously read. It is geared toward losing those last 10-15 “stubborn” pounds and is packed full of extremely useful tips.

7. I’ve Just Been So Busy Lately: The excuse we’ve all heard (and used) too many times.. and why it’s a load of BS.

“Here’s a reality check: because we’re all busy, no one really cares about how busy someone else is. One way or another, we all make time for what’s important to us.”

8. Living Without Money in London: About a woman living in London without money, really interesting topic and article. I just love to read about vagabonds, the ultimate in minimalism.

9. The Yay Scale!: Oh this is too cute & wonderful! You’ve got to see it for yourself. (Thanks, Leeann!)

10. How to Enjoy Your Forgotten Superpowers: There are lots of good things about this article, but my favorite has to be this quote:

“You are just a naked animal, plus stuff.”

11. Steve Jobs: How to Live Before You Die: Required thinking for the human race.

Have a wonderful weekend! Remember to make the best out of every single moment as it passes. Life is yours for the taking.

    ———————–

    1. burning questions with Patti Digh: poetic choices: If you read nothing else from this week’s Carousel, read this post. This is honestly one of the most moving & profound interviews that I’ve ever read.

    2. UPDATE ON THE JOURNEY TO EVERY COUNTRY: Incredible! Talk about an incredible journey…

    3. Why I Quit My Job to Travel Around the World: This seems to be “the dream” of so many in my generation. I love to read the stories of those who go out & make it happen.

    4. Be Your Own Guru: Because, in the end, no one else can stand in my shoes. No one else can live my fears, dreams, love, relationships, desires, intellect, challenges, life and lifestyle. No one else can enjoy or suffer the outcome of my decisions or actions. No one else is better equipped to know me. No one else can act but me.

    5. Staying out of Starvation Mode….: Crucial information if you are trying to maintain a healthy body weight & optimal fitness.

    6. Paying it WAY Forward: I discovered Colin and his blog a couple of weeks ago when he did an interview at Untemplater. I developed an e-crush on him & his lifestyle immediately thereafter. I really like this post that he wrote about paying it forward & the idea of “karma.” Great stuff.

    7. How To Find Balls: Hehe… I’ll let this post’s title speak for itself. 😉

    8. what i learned at couples counseling: I love this post—not just because I think counseling is always a good idea—but also because the advice contained within is so fantastic.

    9. The Mindfulist: The Concept—Each day, meditate or think on a new topic. Slow down and focus! How to participate—1. Meditate or create with each daily prompt 2. The prompts come in two flavors. Work/tech-related, found here at The Mindfulist. 3. If you’re public and want to be social, tag what you create #mindfulist

    I like it.

    10. How to Master the Art of Mindful Eating: Fantastic advice about how to eat, the way that food is meant to be eaten. (Bonus = a delicious recipe!)

    Happy Spring, my loves! ♥♥

Snow, snow, and more snow! Are you beginning to notice a theme here? I sure am. We’ve gotten ten inches over the past few days & the forecast calls for at least another 10-15 inches by tomorrow night. I am actually writing this on Thursday (pre-scheduling the post for Friday) because I probably won’t have an internet connection tomorrow. I will be up in the mountains & most likely snowbound.

Well, I plan on keeping busy & keeping warm this weekend. I hope you do the same where ever you are. I recommend hot cocoa, snowman building, and warm blankets. If you are someplace warm, soak up the sun & be glad!

Here are this week’s Carousel links. Enjoy!

    1. polaroids from marrakech, morocco: Beautiful photographs from the Our Labor of Love blog. Just looking at these make me warm inside, perfect for a cold Winter’s day.

    2. Be Indispensable: “It’s so sad because people don’t recognize that they have to go that low and wait that long.” I love Gary Vaynerchuk, this guy is probably the single-most passionate individual I’ve ever come across. Enjoy this quick video where he talks about what you need to do to become indispensable. Then go search him on YouTube when you’ve got more time—guaranteed inspiration.

    3. On the importance of “No”: “There are moments when we say ‘yes’ to others and in fact are saying ‘no’ to ourselves.”

    4. 5 ways to escape the escapist weekend: Perfect advice to make the best out of this coming weekend & then all the rest!

    5. How Do You Treat Your Food?: I love this post from the Epic Self blog. It is so important that we apply conscious living to every aspect of our lives—especially when it comes to what we put in our bodies! Being mindful about what we put in our bodies is just as important as being mindful of our thoughts, words, and actions.

    6. Stillness is a Powerful Action: “Let stillness become your most powerful action. It could change your life.” Another great post by Leo! I’ve actually been practicing stillness in my life much more frequently than ever before. The results are amazing—I feel calmer, more energized, and ready to take on the world. Stillness in the middle of a hectic day is priceless.

    7. In Defense Of The Death Penalty: Fascinating post by Tim Brownson about the power of our beliefs & values. Don’t be too put off by the title—there’s a twist.

    8. Creating a Happiness Plan: Attention, everyone! Do you have a happiness plan. If not, what are you waiting for? This post will set you on your way.

    9. the perils of justifying yourself: Leave it to Danielle to press your buttons & make you think. Do you justify yourself? You need to read this.

Alright friends. That’s it for this week’s Carousel. I hope that you love each of these posts as much as I did. I’ll be braving the blizzard for the next few days. Wish me luck. Have a great weekend and, as always, spread love & light.

“Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” —Lao Tzu

    1. The Rebel’s Manifesto: “1. Do the opposite of what you were taught in school.” This is just chock-full of superb advice.

    2. My Running Mantra: What lovely inspiration!

    3. 18 Tips on how to pack for a trip, how to travel light, how to have fun in airports (where “trip” also equals “life”): This post delivers precisely what the title promises & then some…

    4. Post Secret: If you are one of the ten people left on Earth that isn’t following Post Secret, then I suggest you start now. 😉 PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. It is completely ad-free & gets updated every Sunday. It’s incredible.

    5. A critical message about food. Yes, it is a bit lengthy, but worth every moment of your time.

Additionally, last week I watched Food, Inc. and to say that my perception about food is drastically altered would be a catastrophic understatement. Every single person living in the USA (perhaps others, too) must watch this film.

    6. A happy mayor: “Not only is Mayor Hazel McCallionhappy of the City of Mississauga in Canada happy at work, she is also 88 years old, has been elected 11 times, has a 91% approval rating AND has kept her city debt-free.” Dear Heaven: Give me a fraction of this woman’s health, enthusiasm, and spirit! I’ll be set forever.

    7. The Crushing Problem of Student Debt: Excellent post about the growing problem of student loan debt faced by so many Americans. This is an excellent follow-up to my two part series about my own financial journey.

    8. Overcoming Fear: I write about overcoming fear quite a bit here; but every now & then it is nice to hear someone else’s perspective on the subject. I really enjoyed this post about overcoming fear, particularly Jared’s personal story about where he allowed fear to take him in his own life.

    9. 25 Beautifully Illustrated Thought-Provoking Questions: “Are you holding onto something that you need to let go of?” Get prepared to think.

    10. Renegade Health Care Reform: Don’t worry, I haven’t gone all political on you! Just click it. I’m sure you’ll agree, no matter which side of the fence you’re standing on.

    11. The Ultimate Minimalist: 5 Powerful Lessons You Can Learn From Gandhi: Really simple, really powerful. This is the most inspired I’ve been by a “minimalism” post in awhile (and I read a lot of them, friends!).

To all of my friends that celebrate Easter, may your Easter be filled with love & light. To all of my friends who do not, may your weekend be full of passion & grace. xo

  1. This week really did go by fast. Maybe it was due to it being slightly more busy than the last week.
You have a great list of links here. I really related with Carlos' post on how to solve 90% of your problems.
    Thanks Dee!

  2. If you need any more help than unclutterer can provide straightening out your workspace, I'd be happy to help.
