Day 4: Your Dream Job

30-day-blogging-challenge

This one is tough because I don’t want to sound ridiculous. The fact is that I actually have my dream job. For the last five years, I’ve been dreaming of becoming a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM)/photographer and here I am, doing just that. I don’t give a hoot what anyone says, being a mother & a homemaker is a full-time job. I have been working since I was fifteen-years-old. I’ve had nearly twenty different jobs (always moving on by choice) and I can honestly say that being a SAHM is as challenging as any job I’ve ever had — from waiting tables, to retail, to corporate America. I suppose that it’s not completely fair to call myself a photographer simply because I am not doing it full, or even part-time yet. I have had some great gigs and several more lined up, but that’s about it. I am shooting roughly 3-4 times a month at this point. Once I double that amount, I will consider myself a “real” photographer. For now, it’s more of a hobby. Once I start making a decent income from my work, then I can really say that I have my dream jobs — motherhood & photography.

That was the practical answer, and now for the big, wild dream…

I mentioned this in my 20 Facts post, but all through my childhood I dreamed of being a zoologist or a marine biologist. I still fantasize about that “could-have-been” life occasionally, especially while watching wildlife documentaries. If I could somehow marry all of my passions, say, get hired by National Geographic to be a lead photographer and travel the world photographing places & animals (with my family along for the ride!)… now that would be a dream come true!

Okay, time to get my head out of the clouds. 😉

Just hopped over to your blog and I totally wanted to work with animals for my career when I was younger too! I always wish I would have gone to vet school and been doing that! Newest follower! 🙂

Our blog posts for today look very similar, lol! Being a SAHM has always been my dream job, and it’s so amazing to be able to actually do it. Especially with how horrible the economy is, it’s not often flexible for a parent to stay home. I feel so thankful that I’m able to.!

While I may not be a stay at home mom, I give mad props to any mommies (or even daddies) that are. It’s a tough job! I sometimes wish I can stay at home even if it’s part time, but we’ve already rocked our career boat way too much in the past couple years to takes anymore risks. At least I love my job and I love every precious moment I get to spend with Sam: )

Get…out! I just found my “Dream” Twin, aka YOU!!! You basically took the words out of my mouth (if I were answering this question)….word for word. I’m right there with ya on the “practical” answer AND on the “big, wild dream”! I also wanted to be a marine biologist or zoologist for a long time growing up. Combining photography, animals, marine life and traveling = a dream 🙂 The only difference here is that I’m not a full-time SAHM…but I’m close. I’m only working 3 hours a day but I hope and pray that next year I’ll be home & a busier (and more experienced) photographer.
