Introducing Samwell Tarly // Around the Yard In Autumn

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve probably already met him, but if not, here he is. The newest member of our family, Samwell Tarly aka “Sam.” He’s named after my favorite Game of Thrones character, of course. We adopted him from a local non-profit rescue organization that works closely with southern rescue groups to provide needed homes for dogs in the Southern United States, where the euthanization of unwanted puppies is an everyday occurrence.

I’ve been following the rescue on Facebook for awhile and when Sam’s face popped up in my feed, I fell in love instantly. Apparently there were several families interested in him and someone beat me to the punch. I was devastated when I found out that he was promised to another family first. I moped for a few days and then suddenly, the rescue reached out to me and said that things fell through with the other family and that he was all mine!

Things moved quickly from there and we were so excited to welcome him into our family. He is just the sweetest little thing. He is such a chill dog and so sweet and smart to boot. He is a border collie mix and border collies are typically really high-energy. I was prepared for craziness, but this guy is so laid back. I am so grateful for his sweet presence in our lives… and also really eager to be done with the puppy potty-training phase. 😉

Since these pictures of Sam had such an autumn-feel to them, I also snapped a few shots around the yard to share our autumn decorations. I say this every year, but Roman & I go crazy with joy as the fall and Halloween-themed decorations start going up around the neighborhood. It is our favorite thing and decorating the yard with him this year has been so much fun.
