If I made a list of the things that I love most, bringing friends together with wine and appetizers would be right at the top of that list. Friends + wine + food = pure love. Am I right?!
Last week, after a busy work day, two of the women who I love and admire the most in this world joined me for a “Girls’ Night In” on a gorgeous spring evening. I kept it really simple and decorated a picnic table with flowers I had gathered around the neighborhood earlier that day. I made a few simple, appetizers and dips. And the crown jewels of the evening were two beautiful, delicious bottles of Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine.
Anybody who knows me and my girls knows that wine is basically our thing! So when I was invited to try these out, I was over the moon. I just love to try new wines and sharing the experience with my best friend and sister made it all the more special. We tried the classic NV Blanc de Blancs and the new NV Brut Rosé. Both were absolutely refreshing and paired beautifully with the appetizers that I had set out.
A couple of months ago, I attended my first wine tasting. Since then I’ve come to love learning all about new wines and where they come from. I was so excited to learn that Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is Carneros’ original sparkling wine house, owned and founded by the Ferrer family of Spain. Named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the breezy, now-famous region in southernmost Sonoma County.
Thirty years later, with 335 acres under vine, the estate vineyards at Gloria Ferrer is known as experts in the production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and produce estate grown still and sparkling wines that rival some of the world’s finest. I also learned that Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 500 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years. After sampling them for myself, I can see why. The girls agreed.
This was such a fun night and I am so grateful for the opportunity. Every time I get together with these sweet ladies I end up laughing until tears stream down my face — and that is truly a blessing. No matter how crazy life gets, I know that I have these two ladies have my back and that means the world to me. Being able to throw a simple Girls’ Night In once in awhile, despite our hectic schedules, is one of life’s great joys. Thanks for enjoying this simple, special evening with me, my loves.
