2020 Intentions // Part One
2019 was an incredible year for me. With each year that passes, I feel more at home in my soul and my body. I learn more about who I am and about the essence of the universe. I am deeply grateful for all of the paths I have traveled that have led me to where I am today.
Here are some lessons that I learned or re-learned in 2019:
– no material thing or place can bring you joy, joy comes from within
– success is proportionate to effort; the harder and smarter that you work, the more success you will have
– peace comes when you stop resisting and practice pure, unconditional acceptance of what is
– you can only give and receive love as deeply as you can love yourself
Aside from the lessons learned last year, I did so much. My word of the year in 2019 was abundance. I wanted an abundance of love, travel, adventure and success, and I truly got that.
As I moved deeper into self-love, I experienced deeper love with my children and with my partner. I learned a lot about boundaries last year and that allowed me to give and receive love on a larger scale than ever before, both to my extended family and to the further reaches of my tribe.
I traveled more last year than I did in the previous 7 years combined. From the Florida Keys, to the Jersey Shore, to a local camping trip, road tripping across Ireland, and finally to Salem, Massachusetts. I got the adventure that I was craving for sure.
And lastly, in terms of success, 2019 was hugely illuminating for me. I learned so much about myself, my strengths and the direction that I want to go. There were also a lot of dead-ends and false starts, but each of those were another lesson learned.
With all of this being said, I shared that my word for 2020 is Flourish. This year I want to continue to experience abundance in all of the areas that I mentioned, but I also want to experience flourishing, blossoming, and unfolding. When I imagine the coming year, I see flowers on a vine–climbing, blooming, sweetly fragrant, deeply saturated in color, reaching toward the sun. I want an explosion of love, peace, pleasure, creation, and life.
In so many ways, I do feel that my life is flourishing, but there is room for expansion, space to deepen into joy and further release the things that have held me back. This is what 2020 will be for me: flourishing expansion, abundant magic and limitless growth.
As always, I know that in order to achieve my desires, I’ll need a map. In the first quarter of the year, from January to March, I will lay down the foundation, setting goals and defining intentions. It is our goals and intentions that serve as the foundation for our successes. And it is our ability to follow through with those goals and intentions that determine whether we succeed or fail.
And so, with all of that said, here are my intentions for 2020.

You will notice that some of these intentions are small-scale and some of them are big picture. Some of them are specific and others still need to be defined. But I feel really good about this list and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to share it here, with you, so that you can hold me accountable.
In the second part of this post, I’m going to talk about why I am setting these intentions and which directions I am moving in this year. I will also dive into each intention a bit to explain the why’s and how’s. Perhaps my sharing will inspire you. I would also love to know about your intentions for 2020. Please share them in the comments.
I’ll be back soon with Part 2. See you then. xo
