Apple Picking & Fog Magic & Letting Go

Hello, my beautiful friends! I can hardly believe that the first week of October has already slipped through my fingers. Warm weather and summer temperatures have been sticking around here, but still, there are signs of autumn’s arrival all around us. Cool, wet air in the early mornings & evenings fills my lungs and it feels like pure magic. These last few days, the leaves have begun falling from the trees and piling themselves up against the sidewalks. Soon the branches will be set aflame in the glory of the autumn blaze. My heart is warm with the anticipation of Hallowe’en magic, my favorite time of year.

Earlier this week, Roman had his very first kindergarten field trip to the apple orchard. I was selected to be chaperone for the trip and since I couldn’t find a sitter for Marina, I brought her along. Because she was with me, we couldn’t ride on the school bus with Roman. So we went in my car with a plan to meet the group at the orchard. As it happened, we arrived quite a bit earlier than the bus. This ended up being perfect because it was a gorgeous, foggy October morning and the extra time allowed for Marina & I to explore the orchard while we waited.

I haven’t taken my big camera out recently. I’ve been taking a break from professional-style photography for the last month or so. There are a whole host of reasons as to why, but I’ll explain that another time. For now, suffice to say that I’ve been taking & sharing pictures with my phone camera & I’ve really been enjoying it. It’s so much lighter and less intrusive than my big camera and I’ve been enjoying it immensely. There are so many changes taking places in my life & also just up on the horizon for me, but again, more about that another day.
