An Autumn Bucket List
October has always been my favorite month and there is nothing in the world like that gorgeous smell of cooler days in the air and the gorgeous fiery shades of leaves changing color to reds, oranges and golds before they drift slowly to the earth. There are so many things that I love to do during autumn, but of course there is never quite enough time to do them all. So each year I make a little bucket list for us with the most important things that I want to check off for the season.
You can download and print the little list that I made below for yourself or you can make your very own list. Here are a few more ideas that you might want to include on your own list, as well as some fun memories from our autumns past. Enjoy!
Take a Long Anticipated Trip
There is nothing like going on a trip in the fall of the year. I am going to be writing all about my recent trips to Salem and Ireland soon! As for you, wherever you want to go, whether it’s to Iceland for a vacation you’ve never had or a trip into the mountains to watch the leaves turn colors, there is nothing like striking out on a road trip during the magic of autumn. Whatever destination choice you make, make sure that you book your car rental Iceland mode of transportation before you start out on your journey.
Visit a New Coffee Shop
You already know that there are many reasons to discover and visit your local coffee shops. But visiting them in the fall of the year is even better than visiting them in any other season. After all, nothing says fall like a hot cup of coffee, a mug of hot cocoa, or a steaming pumpkin spice latte. On top of that, going to a new coffee shop is a great way to make new friends or reconnect with old ones.
Go Apple Picking or Pumpkin Picking
If you’ve never taken the time to do it, then apple picking in the fall is something you must try. Not only is it, but it’s something that can be done with the entire family. On top of that, the apples you pick can be used later for everything from baking apple tarts to making a fragrant apple pie. There’s just something about the smell of homemade apple pie cooling on the window sill, as the fall winds gently blow outside to make you appreciate the beauty of autumn on a whole new level. So, if you’re looking for something new to do with the kids this fall, add picking apples to your list.
Catch Up with Those Books on Your To-Read List
As the temperature begins to drop, you’ll want to stay cozy and warm inside. Why not curl up in front of the fire and start working your way through that pile of books on your to-read list–the ones that you didn’t get to read over the busy summer? Next Saturday morning, put on the tea, curl up in your favorite blanket and spend the day getting lost in another world. This is also the perfect time to curl up on the couch and read with the kids, keeping them entertained, and fueling their imaginations at the same time.
Go for a Leisurely Drive
Sometimes it’s better to not have a plan. Wake up on one fall Sunday morning, put the family in the car and just take a leisurely drive to nowhere in particular. Maybe stop for a nice breakfast or lunch, and just ride watching the leaves fall and enjoying the nice weather at the same time.
These are just a few of my favorite things that you can do to fully enjoy this gorgeous season. From reading to driving around and from taking a long-anticipated trip to just enjoying a cup of coffee at the local coffee shop, I hope that you enjoy all that this magical season has to offer. xo
