First Day of School 2020/2021
Hello, sweet friends! How are you? Oh my goodness. The last few weeks have been such a whirlwind! But in the midst of it all, we survived our first week of “hybrid” schooling last week. Today is the first day of our second week and we’re ready for it.
We have chosen the hybrid option for the first marking period which means the kids are in school 2-3 days each week for 4 hours a day and on the alternating days they are doing virtual school here at home. It is a bit confusing, but we are slowly settling into this routine and finding our rhythm. So far Roman and Marina are loving their new teachers and excited to be in the classroom. I am so grateful that they can be there, even for a little while each week.
This last year has taught me just how much things can quickly and wildly shift in an unexpected direction. So being able to return to “normal” in these little ways feels like a real blessing. At the same time, I am grateful for the lessons that I have learned throughout this time. In many ways things will never return to “the way they were before,” and that’s okay. A lot of things needed to change, and there is still much work left to be done. We have to keep moving.
As for us, we are ready to embrace the magic of autumn. There is a crispness in the air. The leaves are slowly beginning to turn and fall from the trees. The crickets are signing their beautiful, sad songs in the evening. We’ve been doing lots of work around the house and yard to prepare for the change of seasons. We’ve also been busy launching our new family business, Faith & Grace Farm. So our days are truly full at the moment, but I think that’s the way we like it.
Here’s hoping that the rest of this school year goes beautifully for our family and for yours. xo
