Hope in the Dark Places

Yesterday was one of those gorgeous “spring tease” days. For the first time in months & months, it was truly warm. Birds were singing, sun was shining, layers & layers of ice were melting. We took full advantage of the beauty of the day and had a long walk at my favourite park.

It’s an entirely transitional time of year here. One day it will be very warm and the next it will be far below freezing. Buds are slowly popping yet there is still snow on the ground. As the snow melts, the earth becomes an impassable field of mud and every sidewalk is covered in cold puddles. In a way it’s as difficult as the heart of winter itself, yet the promise of spring nearby is a saving grace.

As I was sorting through these photographs that I snapped on our walk, the Albert Camus quote popped into my mind. Within me, an invincible summer… No matter how hard the world pushes against me, I push right back. Yes, perfectly appropriate — another talisman to add to the little pocket of strength that I carry in my heart these days.

I stumbled upon a Jack Canfield quote recently that says: Everything you want is on the other side of fear. How extraordinary, right? What an incredible world that we live in where there is beauty & inspiration to be found around every corner; where there is light & hope even in the dark places; where there are difficult winters that melt away into the warmest most magical springs. ♥
