Taking Stock // Currently
It’s been awhile since I’ve made a Taking Stock post. Here’s a little peek at the things that have been on my mind & heart lately.
Making :: our home more comfortable & beautiful.
Cooking :: cake muffins on the agenda for this afternoon.
Drinking :: a glass of orange juice and a bottle of water, forever thirsty these days.
Reading :: it’s been a little while, stresses of life have turned me into a TV junkie lately (Bachelor, Downton Abbey). I want to get to the library later this week to pick up Paint it Black by Janet Fitch. It’s been on my to-read list for ages.
Wanting :: to feel satisfied with what I already have and less inclined to want more.
Looking :: outside as the falling snow swirls in the wind.
Playing :: with Roman every day, grateful for these magical weeks of constant wonder & play.
Wasting :: time procrastinating about decluttering rather than just doing it!
Sewing :: nothing at the moment. I had a little bunting for baby girl picked out to make, but decided that getting her bassinet together first takes precedence.
Wishing :: that acceptance & gratitude for what is fills my heart. I am so eager for the next thing, especially during these awful winter months.
Enjoying :: feeling creative & inspired again! It’s so wonderful to write, photograph, and create again after the hell that I went through early in my pregnancy/following M.’s injury.
Waiting :: for a lot of things — to be done with the declutter project; for the winter weather to leave us; for baby girl to join us. So many wonderful things to look forward to, really.
Liking :: The Taste. I just started watching it and it’s great. I am such a sucker for these food competition shows. I’m also a smidgen in love with Anthony Bourdain.
Wondering :: what baby girl will look like.
Loving :: Roman’s blooming personality — he’s such a riot.
Hoping :: that I will transition into my role as a mother of two with grace.
Marvelling :: at how tall my little boy has grown. I’ve said it a million times, but no matter how much you think you are prepared for “how fast it goes” — it still knocks you on your ass.
Needing :: more sleep. I’m not even getting into the details and I know it will only get harder in a couple of months with a newborn here.
Smelling :: wood burning in the stove.
Wearing :: a nightgown and cardigan — foregoing getting dressed in favor of writing this post before the day turns crazy.
Following :: the weather forecast like a maniac. They’re calling for up to three feet of snow today and tomorrow.
Noticing :: how incredible it feels to see the progress that we are making in this house. Our bedroom is just about complete and being in there, now that all of the clutter is gone, fills me with joy.
Knowing :: that things are good right now and that it’s so important to just enjoy it instead of worrying about tomorrow.
Thinking :: that I need to get my shelves filled back in so that Roman will stop climbing on them.
Feeling :: content, but a little stressed about this snow storm and the prospect of a power outage.
Bookmarking :: some DIY projects that I think Roman will love in a few months time.
Opening :: boxes of old baby clothes that I was holding onto in case baby #2 was a boy. Planning to sell/donate the vast majority — yet another difficult & emotional purge.
Giggling :: at the sweet & funny ways that Roman pronounces certain words and at the fact that he does a pretend sneeze after each real sneeze now!

Oh my goodness, I love Paint It Black so much. I can re-read it over and over and over and never tire of it 😉
