hello, february!

DenaFebruary 2, 2013

December and January were hard. I got the flu on Christmas and spent the next two weeks in bed. Pregnancy + the flu is just as horrible as you might imagine. Lucky for me, Matthew makes a wonderful nurse. I started to feel better by the middle of January but I’m just starting to feel “like myself” again now.

I don’t remember the New Year happening. At the time, I was in various shades of achy fever hell in a swirl of cough drops, Tylenol, and blankets. The intensity of the flu + my constant worry about what it could do to the baby nearly drove me over the edge. There was no celebrating or resolutions in this house. January came and went and now it’s February. I feel like the groundhog, finally poking my head out of the ground.

Somehow I’ve made it to six and a half months pregnant. My belly is a great big basketball and the little boy inside is just the sweetest little kicker and puncher. He loves to hit and poke his mama at all times of the day. He usually wakes up when I eat and always moves about when I lie down at night. He has a constant craving for peanut butter + jelly, seltzer, and any kind of potato. Most of all his mommy and daddy love him to pieces already and we just can’t wait to meet him!

Even though it never went above freezing, today we bundled up and made our way into the woods. We visited our favourite pond. It’s magical all year, even in winter. It felt so good to be outside, breathing the fresh forest air.

Hi Dena, congrats on moving, your new blog looks lovely! However, I’m mostly reading your posts on my reader and was wondering whether you could perhaps continue to allow for a full length RSS instead of shortened posts? Would really appreciate it! Greetings from Berlin, Germany

I am so sorry to hear about your being sick. My wife and I have had bronchitis for the last two or three weeks. I am fortunate that it never turned into pnumonia but I know it was close. We both have been to the doctor twice and I have to go for a follow up on Monday. It seems that as the older we get the harder it is to get over this stuff. I can only imagine how horrible it has been for you with the fact you are pregnant. I am so glad your husband has been such a wonderful helper in your time of need. I love the new website. Did you move from one platform to the next or just move web servers and domains? I did a WordPress theme change at lightourworld.com. Check it out and let me know what you think. Take care and get better soon.

James, it is so good to hear from you. Sorry to hear that you and your wife were sick, though. I think that I may have had pneumonia too or at least close to it. I avoided the doctor though. There isn’t much to be done for a pregnant lady like me, any sort of medication would have been a very last resort. I am so glad to be feeling better now and hope that you and yours are 100% soon.

As for the site, I bought a new domain and started completely from scratch. I installed WordPress and then customized one of the standard WordPress templates.

I’m going to check out your new theme now! 🙂

You take such beautiful photos Dena! 🙂

So sorry to hear you have been unwell but so glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Not long to go now and your beautiful “peanut butter + jelly, seltzer, and any kind of potato” boy will be looking right up at you thanking you for giving in to the cravings… hehe 🙂

Sending light & love to you, always. J xoxo
