Hello, friends! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last updated, too long I think. However, it has been such an incredibly busy season for me. While my heart is always in this space, I always have ideas for posts and projects that I want to share here — practically speaking I’ve been pulled in other directions. I just wrapped up my busiest wedding season to date. Month after month, I was blessed with the opportunity to document these special days in the lives of my clients.

Wedding photography is so deeply rewarding to me, and at the same time it’s all-consuming. From entire days spent with the couple, to the countless hours that go into perfecting the galleries, and finally to delivering images. It is an enormous labor of love — one that I feel so blessed to take on, but one that also leaves me with little-to-no-time for anything else. Especially considering that I do it all while caring for two little ones and managing my household. Still, I am so grateful for the opportunity to do it. I am also grateful that this busy season has finally rolled to a close.

I am so much looking forward to getting back to sharing in this space, and to pursuing some of my other creative endeavors and passion projects. I’m also truly looking forward to tackling some more of the items on my “home” to-do list which have really gotten pushed to the back burner.

This past summer and early autumn have been an extraordinarily busy time from me in so many ways– personally, professionally, and even spiritually. My main goal for this final quarter of the year is to truly slow down. Yesterday I took my children for a long, slow walk all over our town. It so happened that my phone battery died while we were out walking. At first I was a little panicky about it, like many, I am attached to my phone. But soon, after some time had passed, I melted into the feeling of being unplugged. My mind and my heart truly slowed down as we walked around the neighborhoods to admire Halloween decorations on front lawns, and the stunning transformation of nature into the bright, golden colors of autumn. Instead of hushing or rushing my children, I found myself admiring them with the most grateful heart, listening carefully to each word, question, and idea that sprung into their growing, beautiful minds.

It also occurred to me recently that I haven’t had a vacation in nearly three years. So that is one of my personal goals for the season. I plan to take a one week “staycation” at home and then plan one little getaway, too. I haven’t figured out the details yet, but now that things are slowing down a bit, I’m looking forward to figuring it all out.

I hope that these last couple of weeks had been filled with love and light for you, my friends. What have you been up to? I invite you to join me in slowing down, and breathing deeply as we move these last few precious months of our calendar year. Wishing you lots of joy and grace always. xo
