Simple Beautiful // 01

SIMPLE // BEAUTIFUL THINGS

+ Every year, in winter, my great uncle sends my mom a giant box of fresh, citrus fruit from Florida. Of course, mom gifts me with a bunch of oranges each time. It is such a sweet, delicious reminder of summer. Plus, all of that Vitamin C goes a long way around here — especially since it’s flu season! So good.

+ Yesterday we went to the camping & hunting store and bought two fishing poles. Come spring, I plan to fish every weekend. I’ve always loved fish (to eat!) but I’ve been feeling worse and worse about buying it. Organic/sustainably caught fish is hard-to-come-by around here. And most of what you do find in the supermarket is farm-raised (usually fed grain/given antibiotics) or imported from Asia. I can’t wait to catch my own.

+ This morning when Roman was ready for his nap, I picked him up & he smelled like cookies. (He’d just finished eating his banana/vanilla teething biscuit.) He really is the most delicious, sweet-smelling little creature that I could ever dream up. Every day, my desire to eat him right up grows.

+ This week I sent off the images from my first wedding as lead shooter. It was an amazing, eye-opening experience. I learned so much. You can check out some of my favourite shots from the day here.

+ Last week I posed for my new friend Maddy’s 52 Week Project. I put on makeup and had my hair curled. It was so much fun to play dress up & escape the dirty realities of motherhood for a little while.
