spring afternoons + maternity leave
After what felt like the never-ending winter, spring is finally springing around here. Mother nature has been doing a little bit of teasing still. Earlier this week it went up to eighty (summer temperature!) but today it was back down to normal spring temps. I enjoyed the summery tease, but I’ll take a regular spring for now. I am not trying to rush things and I’ll tell you why…
Yesterday was my last day of work and now starts my maternity leave. Leaving the office yesterday was incredibly surreal. The fact that I won’t be going back on Monday, or the Monday after that, blows my mind a little bit. I got my first job when I turned fifteen and I’ve never had more than a week “off” since then. Thinking about all of the time on my hands is exhilarating — but I’ve got plenty to do. First up is organizing the house and getting rid of some furniture and junk that we’ve been meaning to purge for awhile. Then I am onto the nursery. My shower was (amazing!) last weekend + we got so much. (Full post on that soon.) Now it’s onto setting it all up + decorating. My last big project for my maternity leave is to finally design/order our wedding album. Yes, I’m nearly a year late, but what are you going to do… Of course, I am also planning to rest some, meditate lots, and take care of baby + me.
Now you can see why I am not trying to rush things, right? I am so excited to meet our little one, but I sure could use the next four weeks to get through this mega to-do list. Hopefully there will be time for all of it. But today was a lazy day. Wrapping up loose ends at work this week took it all out of me. I’m lucky I was able to get out of bed this morning. So we took it easy, went for ice cream, and I snapped some photos of the gorgeous budding springtime. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Happy weekend, loves!
