If it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for.

DenaJune 1, 2011

Sometimes Most times, life isn’t easy. In our minds, we have a picture of how we think it should be. We start out with an idea, we develop a plan, and then we work to make it happen.

  • I want to write a book.
  • I want to buy a house.
  • I want to visit Japan.
  • I want to get married.
  • I want to start a family.

And then… life happens. Your ideas fall apart at the seams. You lose your job. Japan gets hit with an earthquake. Your fiance sleeps with the neighbor. Your house burns down.

This isn’t negativity, loves. This is reality. These things have happened to me or around me.

The thing is, though, this stuff doesn’t have to stop us. There is always a way around it. There is a way around grief to happiness; a way around fear to strength; a way around heartbreak to love.

The road isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s rarely easy. But I can promise you this, it’s always worth it.

Fulfillment is worth fighting for. Adventure is worth fighting for. Happiness is worth fighting for. Love is worth fighting for.

Today I want to give you permission. This is a free-pass to keep going. Climb over whatever obstacles have been in your way. Buck up. Be strong. Wipe away the tears. Hug yourself. Get going.

If it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for. Don’t give up.

I really needed this today. I’ve lost my positive attitude and my everything will get better somewhere in the last day or two. This helped a little. Thank you.

@ Caroline – I am grateful to know that this post helped — even just a little bit! You’ve got to hold onto that positive attitude! As difficult as it may be, it is worth it. The sweet wouldn’t be as sweet without the sour, love. xo

@ Dana – Thank you so much for your empowering words! “Don’t give up!” It is such a simple — but MIGHTY — mantra. 🙂
