Yesterday just before lunchtime, M. and I were hit with a serious case of the hungries. It was nothing that any normal lunch could satisfy. We knew we had to do something special. I’ve been wanting to check out JW’s Doo Wop Grill for awhile now. Our town has a pretty small restaurant scene, so when something new opens up, it’s kind of a big deal — and I’ve been hearing great things about the place in my local mom’s group. JW’s did not disappoint. We ate (and ate & ate) and we loved every bite.

When you walk into JW’s, it’s like stepping back in time. There are old-time jukeboxes, vintage posters & 1950’s commercials playing on the television. As parents, we also loved that Roman got a cup full of bright crayons so that he could color while we waited for our food.

There’s lots to choose from on the menu. To start, M. ordered chili cheese fries and I ordered onion rings. For our meals, Roman had a grilled cheese kids meal, which came with a drink & ice cream, and was served in the coolest classic Chevy Bel-Air that he got to keep. M. and I ordered from the burgers menu. All of the burgers are deliciously handmade and cooked to your preference. You can choose from 6 or 12 oz burgers. Each specialty burger is named after a famous 50’s movie star. I had the Judy Garland — an American cheeseburger topped with bacon & avocado. It was divine! M. had the John Wayne — a burger topped with cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and onion rings. He loved his, too. The best part of our meal, however, were the milkshakes. (I told you we were really hungry!)

Not surprisingly, we took home leftovers and didn’t eat for the rest of the day. We had a wonderful experience at JW’s and we’ll go back again.

Talk about the cutest little diner ever! That decor is so fun.

PS Found your blog through your sponsorship on Jana’s blog, and you are darling. I’ve already scrolled through and read a lot of your posts!

What a fun place! Sam would flip getting his meal served in a car!
