Upgrade Your Favorite Breakfast Smoothie

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, then you know that I am a smoothie person. I’ve been drinking smoothies for years. They were a staple for me all the way back to the days when I was breastfeeding and they’ve been a lifesaver for me in getting my kids all of the nutrition that they need. We drink smoothies at least a couple of mornings each week and that’s why I was so excited when we were invited to try out McCormick’s new Smoothie Boosts!
McCormick recently launched their new McCormick Good Morning line that allows you to shake, sprinkle, blend and mix your way to a better, tastier breakfast. The new line of 19 products includes toppers, smoothie boosts, seasonings blends and slow cooker mixes to give you the power to create exciting flavor in your favorite breakfast staples.
Everybody knows that mornings are fast, too fast. Between getting ready for your workday and preparing your kids for school, there isn’t always enough time to create the breakfast your family deserves. But this new line of products helps to do just that.
Since I already make smoothies many mornings, upgrading our smoothies with the Smoothie Boosts is so simple. They take our smoothies from ordinary to extraordinary with a boost of taste and nutrition. On rushed mornings I can even blend a packet with juice or milk for a drinkable meal on-the-go.
Getting my babies all of their daily nutritional requirements isn’t always easy. (All parents of picky-eaters know this!) So I love being able to throw all of the good stuff into a smoothie and know that they are set for the day.
Our favorite smoothie at the moment is this blend. It’s packed with nutrition and super foods, such a great start for their day. So even if the rest of their meals for the day consist of plain spaghetti with butter and tater tots…. 😉 at least I know they have a ton of nutrition in the morning. Our blend varies from day-to-day depending on what I’ve got on hand, but it’s usually some variation of this:
- Raw Cashews
- Raw Greens
- Raw Cacao Powder
- Chia Seeds
- Flax Seeds
- Ripe Banana
- Half of an Avocado
- Scoop of Peanut Butter
- Two Packets of Mixed Berry McCormick Smoothie Boost
I recently started adding half an avocado to the mix because it makes our smoothies so creamy and delicious! I was a little hesitant about whether or not the kids would like it because they’re not crazy about anything green these days, but they love it. I also love to use up ripe or overripe bananas in our smoothies because they add a nice punch of sweetness to the mix. Some days I’ll also add a carrot or two. There’s really no limit to what you can add and it’s such an easy way to sneak veggies into your kids diet.
When it comes to breakfast, it’s so important to me to start our days off bright and strong. Smoothies are one of my favorite ways of doing that. There’s no place like home, cuddled up on the couch on sweet mornings, enjoying breakfast in our jammies.
