Day 19: Your Favourite Movie

Asking me to choose a favourite movie is like asking me to count all of the grains of sand on the beach. Impossible… but I like a challenge. 😉 If I absolutely had to pick, I would have to go with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I have watched it so many times that I can recite nearly every line — and even after all of that watching it still touches me each time. (Not even gonna lie, I still cry each time.) What is it that I love so much about it? Well, aside from the fact that it pulls on my heartstrings like nothing else. It is visually stunning. The acting is phenomenal. The dialogue is perfect. And the soundtrack blows me away. Oh, and Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, and Elijah Wood are basically all of my favourite actors. (If Brad Pitt were in this film then it’d be all of them.) If you haven’t watched it, then I would most highly recommend that you do, but you have to watch it twice. It is utterly (intentionally) confusing the first time through. It’s really enjoyable the second time though. I suppose I should mention that M. really doesn’t care for the film. He loves visually stunning films and good acting as much as I do, but romance and drama are not his thing. So, if you’re really not into either of those then this might not be the film for you.

I am — as per usual — going to break the rules because I have a few other favourite movies that I just can’t bear to not mention.

Fight Club — I don’t even have words. I wrote a whole post about it a few years ago that you can check out here. Brad Pitt, YES. Edward Norton, yes. Helena Bonham Carter, yes. Jared Leto, yes. The.whole.damned.thing. Just so good. And to those who say that the movie is overrated, I say poo-poo to that! I’ve probably watched it a good thirty times and would happily watch it thirty more.

What Dreams May Come — This is probably the least well-known film among my favourites. It stars Robin Williams (whom I adore) as a father & husband who endures unthinkable tragedy. It follows his journey through life and into the afterlife. It is the most visually stunning film that I’ve ever seen. Heartbreaking and wonderful.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy — I am the biggest LOTR nerd that you’ll ever want to know. Yes, I was at the movie theatre at midnight on release nights. Yes, I tried to learn Elvish. And yes, I wanted to name my first-born daughter, Arwen. My sister and I watched The Fellowship of the Ring so many times that we literally memorized the entire script and spoke over the characters through the film.

Okay, I am going to stay away from classics, Disney films, and holiday specials (Charlie Brown, Grinch, Rudolph – 1964 version) otherwise this is going to get really out of hand. If you are participating in my blogging challenge, please leave a link below in the comments so that we can all check it out! Also, you can click here to read all of the posts in this series. xo

I can’t believe I forgot to put Eternal Sunshine on my list! Ah. I love that movie so, so much. (Also, how cute of a name is Clementine?!)

I looooove LOTR. I’ve been trying to convince Andrew that Strider is absolutely acceptable as a middle name for when we have a boy. He doesn’t seem to think so! (My first suggestion was Gimli. Ha!)

Strider is such a good name! If we have another boy — I may be able to pull it off. M. has never seen any of the LOTR trilogy movies! (Unbelievable, I know!) And. Ahhh. Clementine. Just beyond sweet. <3

I never saw any of the LoTR movies until Andrew made me watch them last year. I’ve watched them so many times since! And now he thinks I’m insane because I prefer LoTR to Star Wars!

I love Enternal Sunshine! I think Kate Winslet is amazing! I craved clementines hard core when I was pregnant. I even got clementine lotion. I was considering using Clementine as a middle name if I had a girl.

I loved the LOTR movies, but could not get past reading the Hobbit. I think it’s funny how much of a nerd you are! Love it!
