Winter Days & Spring Dreams

It’s been a long winter and we’ve still got three months to go. We’ve had two weeks of arctic blasts — temperatures far below freezing. And we’ve had more snow storms than I can even count. We got nine inches yesterday and we’re said to be getting another six to twelve inches tonight, followed by heavy ice tomorrow morning.

One of the things that I love about living in the Northeastern section of the United States is that we have four, beautiful, distinct seasons. However, that said, the older I get, the more I have grown to dislike winter. The first snow is always magical, but after that it gets old… & cold. It is especially hard because nature is my most treasured & sacred of spaces. I love to camp, hike, fish, and explore. I’m not one for winter sports like skiing, snow shoeing, or ice skating. In fact, I’m not much of a cold-weather person at all. Considering that winter lasts from early December to late March here, I’m starting to wonder if this really is the right climate for me after all?

In happier & more exciting news, Roman’s 1st birthday is just three months away! (I know, I know! How in the world did that happen?) And of course, true to form, I’m already in full-fledged party-planning mode. (Which, if you follow me on Pinterest, you already know!) I’ve picked the theme, designed the invitations, and I’m very close to booking the location. Gee whiz, is it apparent how much I love party planning? 😉

Daydreaming about May and Roman’s 1st birthday party is certainly a welcome distraction from these chilly winter days. In the meantime, though, we’re making do, enjoying the beauty of winter, keeping warm, and cuddling – a lot. We took these photographs today while scoping out the birthday party venue. Stay tuned for lots more birthday party planning & sneak peeks in the near future.

I am so sick of this snow! And the fact that there doesn’t seem to be an end to it in sight. I feel like the last few winters were fairly tame and that’s making this one seem even worse. I can not wait until Spring, all I want is sunshine, to go hiking, and to start gardening!

Also, his hat is the cutest!

Riiiight!? It’s killing me. We got another foot last night and now it’s icing on top of it. I couldn’t even WALK out of the house right now if I wanted to. *cries*

It’s funny because last week I was really pining to live somewhere with a *little* more winter. This freezing-cold-warm-freezing weather we’ve been having here is a bit annoying. Last week we had an inch of snow and then on Sunday, I’m walking outside sweating in a t-shirt.

BTW, LOVE the theme for Roman’s birthday!

That is crazy! I saw pictures of the snow storm that hit the south last week. Craziness! I would give a lot to be able to walk outside sweating in a tee shirt these days. Haha!! The grass is always greener, right? ;]

Wow, looks like he really love the stroller… Very nice to look at if you see babies comfortable with their stroller. I love it.
