Baby Weight Loss: Smoothies
I’ve been working to lose the fifty pounds that I gained during pregnancy. It’s been coming off pretty steadily but the last ten pounds seems to be sticking. It is likely because I am breastfeeding, and as such, eating like a horse that got loose in the grain bin. It’s a double-edged sword. I think that the first forty pounds came off fairly easily because of breastfeeding. But the last ten are sticking to me like white on rice so that in case I never have another meal I can still feed my baby. I’m not complaining though. In fact, just the opposite. I am really proud of where I am just four months post-baby.
One of the things that has really been helping me to be healthy & keep my voracious appetite in check is smoothies. I’ve been making a big smoothie every morning. It’s such a great way to start the day and to load up on all kinds of nutrition. Every morning my smoothie is a little different but it’s always some variation of these ingredients:
- almond milk
- frozen berries
- banana
- natural peanut butter
- kale
- avocado
- flax seeds
- chia seeds
- maca powder
Any one of these ingredients alone is great — but when you throw a few together in the blender — you’ve got superfood. Admittedly, my smoothies are typically accompanied by two eggs and a piece of sourdough toast. (I told you I am hungry!) But they still leave me feeling good and give me the energy that I need to get through the day, even when I’ve been up all night with my little booger baby.
Before I got pregnant, I had gained back about ten of the seventy pounds that I lost back in 2006/2007. I would like to lose that ten, plus the ten pounds of baby weight that I’ve got left. I’ll be updating here about the journey & my progress.
